Downloads fine from here, using the right click and save or left click then either opening in ZIP or rar. What error are you getting? Does the file start to save? Does it have a zip association when downloaded? If you can download it then unzip then login to your router. Select Maintenance, click Router Upgrade, locate unzipped file. Are you able to browse the net fine? ItShMe said:. Click to expand Last edited: Dec 31, Hi everyone I am having problem upgrading my netgear dggt router.
It had sky firmware installed- i used to use sky broadband - now i am using a different provider. I tried to upgrade using netgear dg gt original firmware v1. However after some time - maybe minutes, the router disconnects and whipes out the all the previous stored ISP ip addresses from the router admin page.
I am at a loss as to what is going on. I know people have said to update my firmware but I am not sure how to do this or where? I am using a very old version - Firmware Version V1. The strange thing is, i havent had a problem since the day i bought the router Below if my settings: Firmware Version V1.
I am at a loss guys , sorry if this is a desperate call but i am tempted to just go and buy a new router, as the ISP says everything looks good. Thanks Karl UK. Reply With Quote. And even though I have setup address reservation for some MAC addresses, it doesn't always give out the correct one. I think a downgrade will be necessary for me too. Anyway, my major issue was the DHCP server on the router with this latest version.
Either way it kept getting annoying, each time the IP lease ran out or pc was rebooted I would have to reboot the router to fix it. I downgraded all the way back to. I reallllly hope Netgear pay attention to this, as the new features are nice for such an "old" router. They just need to get it right. There seems to be quite a few different types of problems with the 1.
Clearly this version has been prematurely released without proper testing. Hopefully the next version will be released soon; until then, I'm sticking to 1. I'm having the dhcp problem as well, but have not had any problems with the WPA2.
I haven't downgraded yet as I was planning to use the VPN functionality. Hope Netgear solves the issue. I'm having dhcp problem since upgrading to. I'm having problems setting a static IP address with 1.
I can tick the box but it wont accept the ip address. Works ok with 1. Since upgrade to. I'm so please I found this blog! I have been having the DHCP issues everyone else seems to have been getting and it's been driving me nuts! I added a load of other things to my network and thought it may be one of those, but eventually narrowed it done to the DGGT.
Will definately be rolling back to. Similiar issues here, I installed. I wired up and then had access to the router but no internet. Reverted immediately back to previous version. I've just downgraded to v16 - my iphone and my linux laptop were both connecting without any difficulty but my wife's and my son's machines both XP were not.
Downgraded to V16 as well. I found my Internet Radio would only connect once without a router reset! V16 fine! Same here - massive DHCP problems with. Thanks for this blog! I was going nuts. Has anyone else had problems dowgrading from. My router just sits there and even after 10 minutes it hasn't rebooted. It's stuck in this. I wish I hadn't bothered.
OK back to. I have never had any connection problems until now, I have also downgraded, or possibly upgraded to. I'm also having problems with DHCP. Since upgrading to. If I reboot the router, everything starts working again. My iPhone still seems quite happy, however. I'm using WPA2 on all devices. IF everyone did this it would be cheaper for the manufacturer to test it at the production end than to pay for shipping to return and test all the routers. The ones actually out there on shops shelves would likely become more reliable, too, after the above had taken effect.
Why are people so short-sighted and ignorant of the consumer protection laws that are there to protect geeks AS WELL as people who have no patience with technical issues? I'm talking from a UK law perspective. It's not a challenge to work-around, it's a fault! It's a consumer product, not a nuclear power station tech's finest hour - treat it as such and return it if it doesn't work.
Money talks. Same issue, bludy annoying tbh and typical ostrich head in the sand mindset on the netgear support pages. This Netgear forum thread collects several user experiences regarding firmware 1. Thanks for sharing the experience. Also just did the upgrade myself due to the DHCP issue. The 1. The upgrade has, sadly, not only not fixed the problem, but has introduced a new one. I can no longer delete Trusted Wireless Stations.
I click delete and get presented with a blank white frame where the list, and options to delete, etc, once was. I've never really been a fan of Netgear, their business routers were hopeless. If there's not a fix for this in the near future I shall be retuning to Linksys. Their kit is fantastic :.
Sorry, that was for 1. However, it you backup the config, edit that and reload it, it does indeed issue the correct DHCP Addresses lets hope it stays like that. There is a VERY anoying delay before you can reconnect to the router admin page after you do this though. It had me rather worried for a couple of minutes. Another bug that still persists is that it doesn't correctly show the Attached Devices, they still appear and dissapear at random.
But at least the DHCP is now working correctly shame it has to be done manually offline! Great Job!!! Nice Information about Netgear Router support. More info:- Netgear Router Technical Support. I really like to appreciate you for this routerlogin netgear setup.
