Although there were only four of us in attendance, we still found ourselves with plenty of insightful and emotion-filled comments to carry on a lively discussion.

Synopsis : This non-fiction book takes the reader through one of the most tumultous periods of modern America's history. Thurgood Marshall and the Groveland Boys case is the focus of this story, but the pages spans multiple decades, states, and legal cases, while introducing the reader to many prominent figures, both black and white, who fought to erase the blight of racism on this nation.

Comments : We all agreed that this book evoked some strong emotions in us: anger, sadness, shame, and shock! It was a long read, made longer by the jumps in the story from one character to another or one legal case to another in a different decade. It became difficult to follow all the threads which were being woven together to create the ugly picture of racism being fought in the courtrooms of the United States.

However, it was clear that Marshall was a visionary who understood the best course and patience required to reach the NAACP's goal of equality for all races. He took to heart and to action the credo, "A lawyer's either a social engineer or he's a parasite on society. Our strongest emotion was anger at the injustices the blacks endured, but especially at the hands of Sheriff Willis McCall and his right hand man, Deputy James Yates. The Groveland Boys case had so many blatant injustices, outside and inside the courtroom, and the majority of those occurred at the hands of the Lake County, Florida law officials.

As the years went on I got older and wasn't so interested anymore and couldn't keep up with all the books and all the movies, but many of my friends did so they filled me in or I'd catch bits and pieces on tv. Last year in when the final movie to this series came out I decided to see it because it was like a chapter of my childhood was ending and I wanted to see how the characters made out after all these years and see what I missed.

I thought I would be completely lost after not seeing all the movies but it was quite the contrary. Voldemort was still there and Harry was still fighting him with his friends. I really enjoyed the film and I loved that I felt I didn't miss anything and I was able to see the characters grow up just like I was doing.

Despite my flip flopping love for Harry Potter the series went on to make millions upon millions of dollars with its seven books and eight films, and loads of dedicated fans. Even though I wasn't the biggest fan, I do have the utmost respect for the series, JK Rowling, and the filmmakers because their work shows amazing creativity, both on paper and on screen. Together they were able to make the tale of young boy who becomes a wizard one of the most successful and memorable stories of all time!

Here is something I find so funny that some Harry Potter Fans made! My friends and always attempt to recreate it and fail miserably haha. Thursday, November 1, Totally Twilight. Hey guys! I hope everyone is doing well after this weeks hurricane, it has been a pretty insane week for NYC and the East Coast. It is time to try and get back into the grove of things, so with that I bring you another post! As I said we are going to take look together at the enterprise of Twilight. Since when the first ever Twilight book was published, this story has risen to the top and take the entertainment industry by force!

When the first film adaption was released in Twilight already had millions of followers from the book series and just grew to outstanding figures!

Fans began devoting their lives to this book and film series they coined the phrase "Twihards" for die-hard fans. Teen girls began dividing themselves into teams based on the characters; "Team Edward vs Team Jacob". There was Twilight paraphernalia everywhere you turned it was complete madness! And I in the midst of it all was sick, I mean it was just way too much. I found it kind of sad that this is what people dedicated their time and money too but, I guess we all have our guilty pleasures, something that makes us happy and ashamed at the same time mine is Jersey Shore, horrible I know.

Some may say it shows dedication, personally I think it's all a bit much, it's not real life, there are no sparkly vampires or sexy werewolves let it go crazies! I just don't understand! I do have to give major props to the writer Stephenie Meyer and the producers who decided to pick up this film they had a stroke of genius when they made Twilight! They are making millions!

Anyway guys check out the vid and I'll be back next week for another rendition of Reel Writers!
